Card Cupids - Anything Goes

Well, my second Card Cupids Design Team card published today with our new challenge - Anything Goes.  Our sponsor this week is Bugaboo stamps - they have some super cute digital stamps.  I had a really hard time choosing which one to work with.

Anyway, I fell in love with the little ballerina girl and simply had to have her for this week.  As I have many little dancers in my life, it seemed perfect to think of them as I created a special card for a special dancer.

Moxie Fab World - Horizontal Sketch

I realized I forgot to post this picture yesterday in regards to the last Moxie Fab World sketch challenges.  The layout for the horizontal card was pretty simple and I thought about complicating it a bit more, but opted against it in the interest in time.

I'm trying to be better about using the items I own, so I pulled out a paper that I hadn't touch, some punches which have been neglected since the purchase of the Cricut, and some lace doily border stickers.

I needed a sentiment and was planning to cut something out on the Cricut, but I remembered I had a stash of stickers and rub-ons, so I went that route instead.  A pretty easy layout that could be used for almost any occasion.

The Rubber Cafe - an elegant fall

In Chicago, you know that if you don't take a few seconds to enjoy fall, you'll miss it.

Well, this weekend we've had some fall-ish weather which was proceeded by warm high 80s and will be followed by high 70s.  So despite the fact that fall is in fact here, we haven't seen it for too long and well...the way things work here, we'll soon see snow.  Sooo not looking forward to that!

Anyway, The Rubber Cafe challenge helped put me in the mood today as I delightfully created some beautiful leaves with autumn colors.  I once again used my new Sophie cartridge from Cricut and purposely cut the "filled in leaf" in white cardstock so that I could blend distress inks on them.  The leaves were a bit smaller than I intended, so this proved to be a messy job.  All absolutely worth it, don't you think?

I wanted the leaves to the highlight of the card, so I kept the rest pretty simple.  I also pulled out the embossing gun and powder and was quickly reminded about how much I loved that added depth embossing can give a stamp.  A touch a gold helped this pop on the chocolate brown cardstock.

I'm also posting this for the Our Craft Lounge Color Challenge that asked us to focus on Brown, Pumpkin and Goldenrod.  The leaves have oodles of variation of pumpkin and goldenrod (though it's a bit tough to see in this picture), and my main background is a deep chocolate brown.

Moxie Fab World - Card Play Challenge

This Moxie Fab World challenge asked us to incorporate playing cards into a creative paper project.  I have to admit I was initially a bit stumped on what I was going to make, but I then remembered that I had bought a Tim Holtz stamp set that had a playing card as one of the stamps.

The stamp was pretty small, and it was the only card in the set so I couldn't do a deck of cards or anything like that.  I had to really on some creative use of the background and some teeny stamps to create a custom saying (thanks Elisa!).

I didn't plan my space correctly, so my phrase fell off the top layer a bit. Additionally, the holder for the teeny stamps only had limited horizontal space so I couldn't spell out YOU'RE in my second line.  So let's go with a texting version of the spelling - ha!

I forgot to mention that I scraplifted this overall background design from The Rubber Cafe gallery.  I thought it would go perfectly with this card.  Such pretty stuff on there - it's inspiring.

Moxie Fab World - Vertical Sketch Card

Here I go again....a little Herringbone technique.

Moxie Fab World's Vertical Sketch Card Challenge was the perfect design for me to use my scraps and to once again make the herringbone pattern.  I can't even begin to describe how often I'll be using this for a quick card.  So quick to do with a great final result.

Moxie Fab World - Square Sketch Challenge

This hands down was my favorite project from the weekend.  I love the paper combination, and I loved how easy it was to put together.

I got the paper from the Scrapbook Expo in St. Charles, Illinois.  I had used it for another project but had some scraps to play with.  So happy I went my gut and freehanded the flower.  I love the irregular shape of it and the inking with Tim Holt'z Tattered Rose made it perfectly stand out.  I don't know if I'll ever give this card away!

This card was created for the Square Sketch Challenge at Moxie Fab World.  Hope they like it as much as I do!

Moxie Fab World - Shaped Sketch Challenge

I've discovered a new challenge blog, and I adore almost everything I've seen so far.  Can't wait to keep participating and it looks like I chose the perfect week to join - they have 5 challenges...so be ready for a slew of posts.

First challenge is a Shaped Sketch Card.

The sketch itself shows a flower, but that's just symbolism for any shape.  I decided to stick with it since I had just gotten my Cricut Circle Blog Cartridge - Sophie.  It had the perfect shape card for this sketch.

I ended up cutting the cover flower (and outline) twice so that I could cut out the middle part of the flower and pop it up with foam.  I then attached a little sentiment with twine.  I took this picture at night so it's hard to get the true coloring, but it's a pretty muted blue and green palette.
